SUMI SERIES: LIQUID THREAD
23 August, 2025
Sumi refers to the traditional Japanese ink used in calligraphy and painting, celebrated for its deep expressive qualities.
Unlike other series, Sumi works are created without a preliminary sketch or fixed plan. In this process, thread transforms into ink, moving across the fabric with the same freedom and fluidity as a brush sweeping ink across paper.
The embroidery becomes a brushstroke full of movement, fluidity, and freedom, making each piece a unique and unrepeatable dialogue between control and spontaneity.
In Sumi, tradition and experimentation merge, inviting the viewer to experience embroidery as a dynamic, expressive form beyond its conventional boundaries.
